We do our best to prevent gaming of, for example, the category ranking. Your rank is defined by your rate, and your rate is defined by how many people dropped on you, not how much you dropped.
In theory this would simply equate to popularity. In practice it's not that clear cut, but it still seems to be one of the best measures we have. Chain dropping should almost never impact on the category rank - chain droppers simply raise the baseline, with a mild bias towards older users (because they're more likely to be in peoples bookmarks etc).
