Unfortunately, every feature we turn into something that permits rankings or ratings of any kind instantly turns into a competition. In the case of drops and recommendations this was considered an acceptable compromise.

In the case of favorites we're not convinced - if people feel compelled to favorite others despite the fact that those blogs aren't in fact their favorite at all, the utility of the feature vanishes completely. I'm open to compelling arguments.
